Some Tips to Succeed in Website Flipping

In website flipping as with any other career or business, the most qualified person to give out advice about it is one who has “been there, done that.” Jay Piecha, or “Suite J” to his numerous clients is one such expert. He started out as  a web designer but transitioned on to being a website flipper, designing and creating niche sites then selling them for a profit. I was given the opportunity of interviewing him and he offered a lot of useful information that I’m sure many of those just starting out would really welcome. Here are the 5 key points that Suite J shared on the business of selling startup sites and website flipping in general.

1. Unless you have much passion for what you do, you’ll be able to find other ways to make money.

As mentioned earlier, Jay was previously into full-time freelance web designing and while he did find some fulfillment in it, he soon found out that there were a lot of other ways to growing one’s income through web-based businesses. And with his design skills, one of these ways was through making niche websites. For Jay, another advantage of going into website flipping over that of designing for clients is that he had a lot more control over what he wanted to make without anyone telling him what he should do. In addition, when you create startup sites, it is possible to make similar websites again without having to put in a lot more effort.

2. Offer the highest level of customer service.

Startup niche sites are often designed for and bought by individuals who are still new to online marketing. As such, they could require extra assistance in getting things going. But even with the sheer number of experienced Internet marketers these days, it’s still tough finding someone who can provide that help. Be ready to share what knowledge you have to potential buyers and they will remember you on their way up.

3. Don’t try to do everything yourself.

We can’t be adept in everything, so with those skills that aren’t your strongest, find individuals who can do it. Jay’s talent is on design. When flipping websites however, you would need a complete package so for the writing needs of his sites, he outsources the work.

4. Try to be different from everyone else.

One infallible way of making it big in site flipping is being able to successfully identify yourself with a particular niche. Come up with creative ways of getting things done and offer value-added services that are not easy to come by.. As an example, how about including some high-quality articles along with the website you are selling? That’s a proposal not too many can refuse. But you have to innovate as often as possible because remember, others can do the same thing too..

5. Make a mailing list.

This may not sound like much to a newbie site flipper, but Jay says that this is one of your primary weapons in building your network of subscribers or potential customers. To be able to send out messages which are custom-made for your subscribers, you should consider having two lists: one for those who have actually purchased a website from you, and another for those who may do so in the future.

If you are new to flipping websites, these pieces of advice from a succesful website flipper should go a long way in helping you get started in the business.
