Encourage Others To Talk About Themselves

Listen intently because you are genuinely interested.

When you encourage people to talk about themselves and their problems, you may be perceived as a good listener.

“There is no mystery about successful business intercourse … Exclusive attention to the person who is speaking to you is very important.  Nothing else is so flattering as that.”                  – Charles W. Eliot

The relationships with your friends and family will also benefit from atttentive listening.   It happens all the time … “Honey, I took the garbage out.”  Thirty minutes afterwards you’re asking … “Did you take the garbage out?”  When we’re busy doing something, we often don’t pay attention to the people around us.  We can miss large chunks of the conversation when this happens.   I make it a practice to stop what I’m doing so I can listen fully.   It saves a lot of unnecessary time repeating things, and reduces the tension and frustration we feel when we believe we’ve been “talking to ourselves.”

Many people fail to make a favorable impression when phoning prospects for their  ï»¿Internet Income Opportunity because they don’t listen attentively – we’re so concerned with what we’re going to say next that we don’t listen to the conversation at hand.

Often, when we’re at loose ends , we only want a friendly, sympathetic listener to unburden to.  That’s frequently all the peeved customer, or dissatisfied employee wants.

Here’s the perfect formula to achieve the exact opposite of what you seek:  Never listen to anyone for long. Talk without end about yourself.  If you have an idea while the other person is talking, don’t wait for him or her to end: bust right in and interrupt in the middle of a sentence.  This is a sure-fire way to prove you are not a good listener, and completely self-centered.

Be wary of poeple who talk only of themselves as they probably think only of themselves as well.   This is not the type of person you want to work with for your Direct Sales .

Ask questions that other people will enjoy answering.   Encourage people to talk about themselves and their accomplishments.

People are not interested in you and your problems. They are more concerned with their own issues.
