Obviously, the online marketers website or blog is the mothership of the business. The place where you try to persuade visitors to either buy, or join your marketing list. You must realize that a good website, that converts, is essential to the process. But having a great website is only one part of the internet marketing game. You’ll also need to get some traffic to that site. People need to know you exist so they can visit and spend all their money with you.

Submit your site to link directories. Be sure that the directories you submit your site to are moderated and owned privately. You can do this without spending any money. Links from these directories are great because they can increase your site’s page rank. The fact that all sites in these directories have to be approved also helps, as people will trust your site more when they see it listed in one of them. People who look at these directories may visit your site, bringing you more traffic.

Another approach, or strategy, is to write articles which you can submit to directories, repurpose, etc. Most directories allow a bio box and several links at the end of your article. The net’s full of article directories, and some are more powerful than others. Some article directories, the better ones, will frown on submitting an article that has also been submitted to a lot of other places. If you’re not careful about this you may find yourself getting banned from some directories. However you can avoid this issue with a solid content spinning application and some fresh weekly articles. Remember: the more your name is spread around the internet the more people will visit your site and the better your reputation will be.

Look around, find and contact the publishers of good quality newsletters, or ezines, in your market topic. Try to build a relationship, and then request if you can contribute some articles to their ezines. Of course you will not ask for payment, but rather be able to use include your link in the bio section. You’ll find a lot of publishers will agree to this if your content is good and well-written. You might even be able to land a regular writing gig (and extra money) that way!

There is no shortage of methods to attract website traffic; in fact, it can be difficult to know which ones you want to use. It’s best not to try to use too many at once, but stick to one at a time. Test one method for a certain amount of time, such as three months and if you find it isn’t working as well as you’d hoped, give another method a chance.

When you land upon a method that does work, scale it up so it brings you even more traffic. You always want to attract as many visitors to your website as you can. A certain percentage of your visitors will become customers, so more traffic means more money!
